Printing the “Monthly Pension Record” from Nenkin Net required for the permanent residence application
From 2019, it became necessary to be enrolled in a pension to apply for permanent residence. Therefore, when applying for permanent residence, it is required to submit documents proving that you have paid pension insurance premiums for more than two years in the past.
Specifically, the required documents are one of the following:
- Annual Pension Report (only the ones sent in an envelope)
- Printed screen of the “Monthly Pension Record” from Nenkin Net
As for the Annual Pension Report, it must be the one sent in an envelope, not a postcard. However, the Annual Pension Report sent in an envelope is only issued at milestone ages (35, 45, 59), so unless you are applying for permanent residence at just this timing, you will need to submit the printed screen of the “Monthly Pension Record" from Nenkin Net.
However, those who have actually created an account on Nenkin Net might have experienced that it’s not clear where to find the printed screen of the “Monthly Pension Record" on their My Page.
Therefore, in this article, we will guide you on where to find the printed screen of the “Monthly Pension Record" on Nenkin Net.
Japan Pension Service Website and Nenkin Net
New Registration
First, access the Japan Pension Service website. You can access it from this link. When you access it, you will see a screen like below.
You can “Register" or “Log In" to Nenkin Net from the menu on the right.
If you are using it for the first time, you need to “Register" first. To register, you need to enter your “Basic Pension Number", so prepare your Annual Pension Report or Pension Handbook and register.
Since the registration procedure is simply following the instructions on the screen, it will be omitted here.
If you are a foreigner and do not understand how to register, you can come to our office, and we can assist you with the new registration. Clicking on “Check Monthly Pension Record" will display the “Check Monthly Pension Record" page. This part is relatively easy for anyone to reach, but it gets a bit confusing from here.
Even if you look around this page, it’s not clear which part you should use for the permanent residence application.
However, upon closer inspection, there is a menu on the right side of this page that says “Display a print-friendly screen".
Clicking on the “Display a print-friendly screen" menu finally displays the “Check Pension Record (Print)" page.
Print this screen and use it as part of your permanent residence application documents.
When There are Missed or Unpaid Pension Contributions
For employee pensions, since the company is paying, there are almost no missed or unpaid contributions. However, if you are enrolled in the National Pension, there might be some missed payments.
For permanent residence applications, if there are missed or unpaid contributions in the past two years, it will have a significant negative impact. Therefore, if you confirm there are unpaid amounts on this screen, pay them immediately, confirm again on the screen, and print it out.
